My hands are always cold when I ski, and with regular gloves, I would always have to pull my fingers into the palm, where I would stuff a hand warmer to keep them warm. These split finger gloves are a great compromise, and definitely keep my fingers warmer, although I still use the hand warmer on cold days. The removable liner is great, so you can remove it and wash it, which should prolong their life. The only thing this glove is missing is a leash. I had to buy them separately.Fit as per Black Diamond's online sizing charts. This glove is clearly for skiing but I'm using it for bike commuting in the winter.Nice fit and cuff length. I've always preferred using ski gloves for winter biking. The cuff toggle system, to open and tighten the cuff, is excellent and easy to operate with the gloves on. The strap used to adjust overall glove width is best set once as you can't operate it reliably with gloves on.The separate index finger design is perfect for bikes using disc brakes which can be operated with one finger easily. Not so great probably for riding bides with V brakes. Even in very cold weather I didn't find my index fingers getting cold.Separate inners and outers are a huge win. When biking you are generating a lot of heat, so wind resistance, breathability, and adjustable insulation are pretty important. This glove offers all of that. No problems on 50 minute winter rides between 15 F and 30 F, using a thinner inner liner glove. The supplied inner liner is too warm, probably, for temps above 10-15 F when biking, except perhaps if biking very sedately. The outers have a leather palm and single stitching, two features that concern me. The stitching looks weak, and I'm concerned the leather will hold against bar grips, which receive a lot more hand pressure than holding ski poles.Another problem with the weak stitching is that under a running water test, water passed through the stitching a bit too quickly for my tastes. Other than the stitching, the uppers seem to have good water resistance. Water seepage through the stitching probably isn't going to be a problem, as a running water test is pretty extreme compared to the impact of blowing snow.I'm keeping these gloves. My biggest fear is the stitching. If it holds up these gloves should be a good value.I bought these after using fingered gloves for skiing for many years and having my hands get really cold on the colder days out. These are fantastic. My hands stay much warmer, even on the coldest days on the mountain. I like the individual index finger, since I feel like I can keep a better grip on my poles, etc with it, though it is the only area that really will get a little cold at times (nothing unbearable like my old gloves, but the separation does mean it's the most likely to cool down). The gloves do have big, thick liners (also with the single finger separation) that are removable for warmer days. It would be pretty easy to use other glove liners with them as well, if you'd like fingered gloves, though they won't velcro in place like the liners that come with it. They are quite bulky, which is why they stay so warm, so not a negative for me, but maybe not for everyone. You won't have enough dexterity to do much besides grip items with them on- I definitely have to take them off to tighten my ski boots. But the bulkiness is definitely what makes them warm and keeps my fingers from going numb on the slopes. Also, for the record, I'm a woman with medium to large hands in woman's sizes and bought the medium and they fit great! I might have been able to fit a small, but I like that these are loose enough to get on/off easily (without a ton of extra room, but some) and still tight enough that they won't fall off, etc. Like I said before, they are bulky, but that's the point. Finally gloves for Maine.I bought these gloves for my winter load out backpack. They’re warm and very comfortable. Excellent for winter hikes in the Pacific Northwest region. I was looking for something like the Army issue winter gear (trigger finger mittens). These are a nice civilian pair that can be used in regular clothing or in tactical gear. I’m pleased with this purchase as the mittens are just as described and pictured. The company also sent a letter with contact info indicating if there was anything wrong with their product to simple contact them to make it right. I like it when they reach out to the customer in that way. The mittens are holding up great. These are the most expensive but the warmest gloves I have worn. I love the option to use the single finger or put all my fingers in the other area to keep the index finger warm. It is bulky so hard to fit in coat pockets but great for outdoors.I bought these for keeping my hands warm while cycling and they do a great job of it. I rode today for 30+ minutes at a temperature of 7F (-9 with wind-chill) and my hands were warm to the point of sweating.I did notice a slight temperature difference between my index finger (which is by itself) and the my other fingers but I wouldn't even say that finger got cold. The only reason I gave the glove 4 instead of 5 stars was they're a little hard to move from gripping the handlebars to the brakes. Otherwise I'm super happy with them. It's all about fit. If this glove fits you well (it seems to be tailored for narrow longer fingers), you will not be disappointed, it's extremely well made. If it does not, there are similar products from other manufacturers.Regarding the whole concept of a split-finger gloves - it is obviously a compromise between dexterity and warmth, between gloves and mittens. The only way you can hold an ice axe comfortably while wearing a mitten is to have that mitten 1-2 sizes larger than you normally wear (a hint - the liner of this glove is identical to BD Mercury mitts). And that's what brought split-finger design into existence. If I were making these, I would give the index finger more insulation, aiming for (almost) the best of both worlds. No manufacturer does this, as far as I know. So often, you get the worst of both worlds - it's a poor consolation that three of your fingers are OK if the index finger is frozen.Been looking for years for a pair of winter cycling gloves that will keep my guitar finger tips warm. The callused tips of my fretting fingers freeze easily, with nerves but little circulation, and hurt like #$@& when its really cold. On the coldest day, I also wear a thin inner liner glove. Cycled today in -22F with the wind, and could still feel my fingers after a 30 minute ride.ich verwende diesen Handschuh zum gleitschirmfliegen in der kalten Jahreszeit. dafür ist er genial, super warm.klare kaufempfehlung薄い手袋と一緒に使用する為やや大きめを購入。
