The almost instantaneous shut down prevents accidental cutting. Brushless Motor Much more efficient and made to last longer than motors with a brush design. The chain spins around the bar at 26 ft/s but uses less battery. Gas Like Power But cleaner and less expensive than gas. 2x20V Power Share batteries give this saw 40V of power and performance to tackle any job that’s meant for a chainsaw. On-board Battery Indicator The battery “fuel gauge” always lets you know how much juice you have left, so you can plan to recharge or switch out the batteries. This chainsaw has two main advantages. It has an easy-to-adjust chain. When the directions say "make sure the chain runs freely," take that as truth. Amazon sends these saws that way -- pre-installed and adjusted. However, the naysayers probably did not inspect how the chain works.Turn the cover nob counterclockwise and completely remove the cover. When that is done, it is easy to see how you pull back the runner bar to ensure the tightness and alignment to the track. This is key. Replace the cover and turn it clockwise. Before you tighten it all the way, move the chain clockwise on the runner. It moves with a little difficulty at first, but if it is on the bar correctly, it **will move freely**. Very carefully read all of the directions that describe how to do this.Secondly, this chain's battery functions are wonderful. The smaller batteries will take care of most small jobs. For those of you with chainsaw experience, you already know the importance of keeping the tool cleaned up after each use. This habit will make the tool work efficiently and well for as many years as you want to use it.1. So -- make sure the chain is adjusted and on the bar properly (in the track).2. Make sure to clean it after each use.3. One-Star people are wrong. Ignore them.I ❣️Worx! This has been great for the small clearing jobs around my large property. It is light enough to carry around easily, and the interchangeable batteries make it a convenient part of my growing group of Worx tools. When the battery runs out, it is usually a good time for me to stretch and take a little break anyway, so I take a little walk, hydrate and change it out. I have noticed that the chain sometimes pops off when I am using it to cut back newer growth that moves more while cutting. I think I just have to develop a routine of checking the chain tension more often when doing those. It easily goes through much larger logs than I thought it would, is easy to maneuver, and is quiet enough that I do not need ear protection. Great safety features! If you want something light and convenient, and want a little break after 45 minutes of consistent use, you will love this saw.I bought this Worx chain saw because it was listed as a 40 Volt saw and I have a Worx 40 Volt weed whacker. Unfortunately, instead of being able to interchange 40 Volt batteries, I was stuck with having to get 20 Volt batteries with yet another charging systems. Big disappointment.Aside from this particular PIA issue the saw works well. Electric saws have much more torque than gas saws, even the battery powered electrics. Battery life is okay. It is very difficult to compare to gas saws. Subjectively, for the same weight of fuel vs. weight of batteries you can run a gas saw longer. However, for spot use such as trail clearing or trimming up a tree or two, the electric saws are more user friendly. As well as being ready to run immediately so long as the batteries are charged.I did find the chain tightening doesn't seem to hold tension that well. I have had to fiddle with it in the middle of cutting and the chain can get pulled off the bar if you get the saw jammed up.About the chain. The included chain seems "tinny", not robust. It requires frequent sharpening. I bought the Amazon recommended Oregon chain, model S52. This is a 52 tooth; 3/8" pitch; .050" gauge chain. I mounted it on the saw and it seems to work, though felt a little tight. Just ran a quick test with the Oregon chain and it really seems to cut better. Though this was just a test, not put to real use yet. However, checking the Oregon chainsaw catalog, they recommend their model R52 or 90PX05226 chains. Looking over the specs both are 52 tooth; 3/8" pitch; but .043" gauge. Maybe my chain bar is a bit worn so the .050" S52 chain isn't binding, but if you changed the chain on a newer saw there might be a problem. I decided to order the R52 chain. The recommended Oregon chain bar for the Worx WG384 saw is theirSingle Rivet Guide Bar, 14" Part# 144MLEA041. Replacing the Worx chain bar might improve overall performance of the saw.Cut through a few trees in the backyard with ease. Battery life is great and batteries are interchangeable with other Worx batteries. Not for big jobs but otherwise a nice chain saw for trees, limbs and lots easier than a hand saw. Love it! Like the safety feature. This chain saw works well, cuts fast and was easy to set up and use. For a Chinese product, I find Worx to be a good value. Mot a fan of buying Chinese but can not find comparable products for a decent price.I like the power and cutting speed of this saw and the ease of changing blade but it does seem to jam and throw the chain easily. Be sure to keep the tension adjusted tight to keep the chain from coming off.I do a lot of volunteer work on local trails in State Forests, I bought this saw to use for clearing blowdowns and dead falls from the trail, I finally got to use it for the first time and it was a pretty big job as you can see by the photos. The weight of the saw was barely noticeable on the 2 mile hike in to the tree however it did fall short on the battery life everything I read lead me to believe you could get a solid hour of runtime on 1 set of 2 20v batteries but this was not the case it took 3 sets of 2 batteries to make 3 wedge cuts and 3 finishing cuts in the saws defense this tree was much larger than what the 14" bar and chain were designed to handle but it got the job done and that's the important part, lots of happy hikers and trail runners out there and glad to have added this tool to my collection of Worx Power Share Tools, I also own 2 HydroShots and recently bought their weed whacker too, it's an impressive line of products. I especially like that eliminates risk of environmental contamination and fires not having to carry gasoline into the woods too, I wouldn't recommend this for somebody doing a lot of cutting living on a farm or homestead but for the occasional downed tree it sure beats an axe or a hatchet.I used the saw only once then when i went to use it again on May 2 to charge the batteries one would not take a charge .now I have to buy a new battery after only one use. I hope you will replace it .please let me know.......BobGreat tool for short jobs howeverBlade continues to fall off when cutting laterallyRecommander comme outil, pour travaux légers
